Primary pupils win kindness award
This year's Pope John XXIII Award for Kindness has been awarded to the young students of Year 4 at Kirkop Primary, within St Benedict College, who care for and help one of their peers with Down Syndrome.
The students take it in turns to help him by keeping an eye on him, treating him with respect and helping him in simple every day classroom activities.
They also go out of their way with enthusiasm and dedication to help the boy after school hours during his Museum catechism lessons.
This gold medal rewards dedication and originality of the pupils' approach and their involvement.

Prosit....Keep it up dear year 4 students. Your kindness and respect towards your classmate is worth all the praises. As I write I am being reminded of Michael Jackson's song 'Heal the World'. Simple gestures of kindness, respect and tollerance, all coming out of love, will surely help to 'heal the world and make it a better place for you and for me and the entire human race'. May you cherish these fundamental values throughout your life.
