of course the pn had nothing to do with it! I'm pretty sure they were very upset by what was going on then. As i'm perfectly convinced that the bombs during the 1980's intended to destabilise the country were carried out by mlp thugs. Incidentally, the bombs stopped as soon as the pn was in government.

Tell us, were you in the AFM task force, at that time ? ( Dejma )
were they not used by the mlp in gov, to make Malta a Police/ Military State ?

The sad thing is that most of these dejma PT's after they done their duty very satisfatory
over 1000 of them got kicked out of the army by mr mintoff, and left jobless ! but some other's
NO most of them are still in the Job, thanks to the never ending klikka of the mlp !

Sadly to say, is that some of the ex - Dejma are still being seen as the black sheep's to date.
especially when a licence for work is needed, like a securty guard, local warden, ecc !
to the big party's both mlp and pn, with Ahfruli only, won't help at all, REMEDIES is what we need now !

I fully agree with Jimmy Magro's comments.As for those pitifull comments from the conservatives re disturbances is all false propaganda to destabalise a lawfully elected Goverment. i WOULD THINK IT WOULD BE FOOLISH FOR ANY GOVERMENT to destabilse a country. Now i deal with the false accusations .
1 Mr.EFA was quoted as saying that he knew who assaulted his family .Why were they not brought to justice. Now what sane person would leave his family unprotected if those times were as stated by these conservatives .
The shooting at tal-Barrani Why is it the persons responsible not brought to justice, instead as soon as a conservatives are in goverment are given promotion.
There are numerous other incidents but for now its enough

What's wrong with Dr. Toni Abela? Has he ever been accused of corruption or any wrong doing?
Dr.Abela was one of the few that in 1989 had the courage to criticise the Labour Party for the corruption and violent elements it had.
He suffered beacuse of this.

Now he's back. MLP will benefit from an honest person like him.

regarding freedom of speech and expression, why do we always have to stop in the 1980's? why not go a little more back in time, let's say in the 1960's? what about the privilege of being banned from a decent burial if you happen to belief in left wing ideology? what about being forbidden from reading a newspaper or else you can't be administrated holy sacraments? I'm too young to remember those days, but my family experienced it first hand and they all agree that that time was great for freedom of expression!

Do you have any comments on the paramilitary group tal-Gakketta Blu, the series of bombs to destabilise the country, the Malta file distributed all over europe, the endless lies with the citizens. We need to look into the future and this is what this debate is all about. If you want to freeze your mind on what happened in 1979 that is your problem but the ordinary citizen want to know whether his wage and or salary will be enough to pay his bills; why health queues continue to grow; why many families are forced to send their children into private paying schools; why big speculators always get the backing of MEPA; why some people in certain positions live a life beyond their declared income? Give us a break man, and let us clean this country of corruption and privileges for the very very few.
My biggest challenge is to have a declaration of assets of all people in Malta as at 31st december 1987 and 31st december 2007. These are the questions that must be addressed and not what happened in more than a quarter of a century ago.

In September 1998, Dr.Joseph Muscat, the actual MLP leader wrote in a local newspaper the following: "the fact that the name of the Leader of the Opposition was never mentioned on the State-owned media, the fact that mob attacks on the house of the leader of the opposition, Progress Press and Curia were almost justified".
How is that for freedom of the press and democracy?
I could also have quoted what someone wrote just 6 days ago. But I leave that for some other time.
I have always written that the battle for the administration of our country is between 'a bad' and 'a worse', and the MLP has still to prove that it is not the latter.

of course i know what black monday was! when some idiots / hotheads went on the rampage & burnt down the times premises. i am not condoning those events. now let me ask you whether you know or remember when a nationalist health minister lost a court case for preventing a patient in hospital from reading the paper of his choice!!
and it was a labour govt that introduced freedom of speech and expression in the constitution my friend...in case you've forgotten !!

I ask you to get your facts rights! I am more than positive about the fact that a petition was presented to Dr. Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi on Monday 16th June 2008 in the evening, signed by a large number of delegates to call for an early election for the MLP Administration. Therefore what I am not getting is that since Dr. Muscat came in the party leadership, we have to credit everything being done to him.

The administration elections will be held because a petition by a large number of delegates was presented to the Party on Monday. Whether you like it or not that is what happened. Maybe the times could ask Dr. Zrinzo Azzopardi what exactly happened? I guess that now there might be a denial since this has become part of the glorification of the New Leader. (Joe Mizzi, fgura)

@ Joe Mizzi: Yes you are getting it wrong. The only petition presented to Stefaz Zrinzo Azzopardi was the one by Marlene Pullicino and which was already discussed in a conference.

News reports revealed that the other petition was stopped.

@ andrew borg cardona. what is not 'bleedin' obvious' is how and why the sec general of the nationalist party is elected just by the members of the party executice. why not by all the members like people were asking the mlp to do in the election of party leader???

It was not Dr. Joseph Muscat that proposed a new date for the administration election, but a petition presented by a large number of delegates on Monday evening. This petition was presented to the MLP President by a representative of the signatories. Now Dr. Muscat is trying to get the praise for doing something he did not do! (Joe Mizzi Fgura)

The Party Administration is composed of the leadership and 8 other officers, a total of 11 persons. Following the election of three new persons to hold the leadership position, the MLP requires a new set of the 8 other administration members. The Administration failed to deliver a winning result in the most winnable election ever. This is not a question of faces, smiles or head rolling. But this is what the Party deserves. The party is above any other consideration and everyone must be ready to pay the price to make the MLP electable in the shortest time possible. This is part of our democratic values. Malta cannot be turned into a one-party state. Democracy entails an alternating system of government especially in the case of Malta where the winner takes all.
Delegates and others should not be astonished by the reports in the local media. This is a natural process. The MLP always believed in free press and democracy and therefore we should not be bothered by what others say about the MLP. After all, they do not know to do otherwise. Let us keep on our course united under the new Leadership.

Excellent decision. Labour must not allow anyone to set its agenda so forget all about the tripe that is dished out regularly by Medialink.' Let all the valid persons come up for election and give the delgates a wide selection of talents and capbilities that would take Labour through a radical change that would lead it to an electoral success.

I'm sure the delegates will choose the right persons. Please do note, that this is not an election concerning only Jason Micallef. So before you start attacking him personally, may I remind you that the administration is not only made up of the Sectretary General. Every member of the administration is important, and I'm pretty sure the delegates know this!
