Host families sought for seven Russian orphans

The International Charity Organisation (ICS), through its director Irina Malikova, is appealing to Maltese families to host seven orphan children from Russia for just over two months.

This will be the second group of children from Russia here for the summer. The first group of 15 orphans arrived on June 3 and are staying with Maltese families until September 9.

Bur Ms Malikova is still trying to find more families to host the second group which is coming over on July 3.

The seven children are from Samara Orphans Home, which is situated 1,000 kilometres from Moscow.

ICS brings children over from Russia twice a year, in summer and for Christmas. It was set up 10 years ago precisely with the aim of encouraging Maltese families to host orphan children from Russia.

Ms Malikova said such visits give the children confidence and help them look to the future with a more positive attitude.
