I send a fond farewell to all our friends in Malta. On Saturday, Air Malta announced through our travel agent that it was pulling all flights from Scotland to Malta in the autumn. This has stunned and upset visitors to Malta, many who, like us, have been visiting the island for many years. It seems that our only option would be to fly from airports in England. In reality, it would make the journey extremely long and in fact comparable to the time taken to fly from Scotland to America and also more expensive.

I appreciate that in the present economic climate, cut-backs have to be made. However, in view of this action, I fear Malta will lose out on revenue by the actions of Air Malta.
