The editorial Examining the Lecturers' Action (June 13) describes KSU as having "mellowed its position in another statement" and that KSU could be downplaying the situation after the hundreds of students on the Facebook group signed a petition.
Please rest assured that KSU still stands by its first press release and still deems the directive issued by Umasa and the MUT as inappropriate. However, KSU is calling for students to remain calm since it is of the opinion, after having established contacts with the parties concerned, that in the circumstances, sensible meetings are the best way forward. KSU is following the issue closely and will be informing the students accordingly.
Please also note that the petition on Facebook is not organised by KSU but by independent students and KSU is not in any way responsible for it.
Even though KSU values the rationale behind the petition, it considers that composed, sensible dealings are the best option for yielding long-term results.
