President back at work this morning

President Eddie Fenech Adami will return to his official duties this morning after taking a short break to recover from a recent cardiac intervention.

He will he honouring his weekly engagement list starting this morning when he is expected to receive Ambassador for Sweden, Fredrik Vahlquist, and representatives from the Wireless for the Blind Foundation during two separate events at the Palace in Valletta.

On June 6 Dr Fenech Adami underwent an angiogram to introduce a stent that opened his narrowed coronary artery after a scan the day before revealed possible cardiac ischaemia, meaning that not enough blood and oxygen were flowing into the heart.

Following the successful procedure, the 74-year-old President followed doctors' recommendations and took a week's rest from official duties.
