An AFM patrol boat it on its way to Malta after having taken on board a group of 27 migrants found clinging to a tuna pen by an Italian fishing boat earlier today. The group was found in the sea holding on to the pen 75 miles south of Malta. A similar rescue was performed yesterday (see video).

Meanwhile another patrol boat this evening rescued a group of 26 migrants spotted on a boat a few miles off Malta.

A total of 110 migrants were brought to Malta on Monday morning and another boatload arrived in Wied iz-Zurrieq.

The latest groups will be landed in Malta tonight, bringing to 163 the number of migrants landed in Malta in 24 hours.
