Apologies are coming thick and fast from the Labour Party camp, which is commendable. People should and ought to be man or woman enough to right their wrongs.

But no apology has as yet come from Alfred Sant about his infamous "traitor" jibe addressed at Dom Mintoff. Joseph Muscat, the newly-appointed MLP leader, described Mr Mintoff as "the father of the MLP". People like Dr Muscat, who would have been nothing (Dr Muscat's own words) had it not been for Mr Mintoff and his governments that introduced the necessary legislation to better the way of life of the less fortunate, were and still are hurt the most. To say that these people have never voted Labour since would be an understatement. And so, part of the blame for Labour's election losses lies squarely on Dr Sant's shoulders. He should be man enough and follow the example of his allies in the party and right the wrong he did. Time waits for no one.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Dr Muscat, and to quote a verse from one of Cat Steven's songs: "You're still young... there's so much to learn". I hope that he will build on the good achieved by his predecessors and discard the bad.

Listen to advice, and while trying to read people's minds, weigh it. But most importantly, be your own man. Good luck.
