Kristensen leads Audi to Le Mans victory

Denmark's Tom Kristensen won the Le Mans 24 Hours sportscar race for a record eighth time on Sunday, leading Audi to a dramatic victory over favourites Peugeot.

Kristensen, driving the number two Audi with team-mates Rinaldo Capello of Italy and Britain's Allan McNish, completed 381 laps in a rain-affected race.

The trio finished less than one lap ahead of the number seven Peugeot of Frenchman Nicolas Minassian, Spaniard Marc Gene and Canada's 1997 Formula One world champion Jacques Villeneuve.

Frenchman Franck Montagny brought the number nine Peugeot home in third place as Audi claimed an eighth win in nine years and a hat-trick of victories in a diesel powered car.
