Father, son charged

A father and son were yesterday granted bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000 (Lm429) after pleading not guilty to seriously injuring Alistair Bianco in an argument in Żejtun on Tuesday night.

Carmelo Portelli, 58, from Sta. Lucija and Stephen Portelli, 30, from Tarxien pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Mr Bianco, slightly injuring Chantelle Bianco, breaching the peace, causing damage to Ms Bianco's car.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona presided over the case and Police Inspector Arthur Mercieca prosecuted.

Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri appeared for the defendants.
