Xemxija beach is still in a deplorable state, despite all the embellishment that has been carried out around it. The seaweed that accumulated in winter is still left to rot on the beach, spoiling what is otherwise a natural beauty spot.

Every year the cleaning-up of this beach is delayed. Anyone passing along the Xemxija road on the way to Mellieħa and Cirkewwa cannot fail to see it.

It does not make sense to neglect this beach when large sums of money have been spent in Bugibba to create an artificial beach that needs to be replenished with sand every year after the winter storms.
