Two Frenchmen accused of illegal fishing

Two French men were today (Saturday) accused of fishing illegally in Maltese waters.

Fontanet Silvere and Serge Antoine Jose Perez pleaded not guilty of fishing in Malta's territorial seas between June 11 and 12 and were granted bail on a personal guarantee totalling €116,000.

The case was deferred to July 22.

Inspector James Grech prosecuted.

Meanwhile, Dionisius Borg, a 47 year-old from Hamrun was accused of fraud and the misappropriation of €2,100.

The accused admitted his guilt and was discharged on the condition that he pays the victims in full within six months.

Inspector Ivan Cilia prosecuted.
