A 30-year-old man was yesterday granted bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000 (Lm2,145.92) after he denied misappropriating over €2,239 (Lm1, 000).

Etienne Zammit from Qormi pleaded not guilty to siphoning off money to the detriment of R and G DVD Enterprises.

Magistrate Anthony Vella heard how Mr Zammit would allegedly receive money from customers and not forward it to the company.

Prosecuting Police Inspector Ian Abdilla told the court that Mr Zammit already has a separate agreement with the owners of the company by which he owes them €11,650 (Lm5,000).

He added that since Mr Zammit is no longer employed with the company, there is the fear that he might not pay the money back.

After taking into consideration the amount involved Magistrate Anthony Vella granted Mr Zammit bail.

Lawyer Mark Busuttil appeared for Mr Zammit.
