The recent spate of letters in The Times highlighting the problem of traffic congestion in Victoria merits attention from the authorities.
The Gozo Business Chamber has been discussing this problem with the authorities for a very long time and has also made practical suggestions in order to have better traffic management which will not only avoid congestion but also relieve the Victoria residents from the polluted air caused by the exhaust belching out from the big queues of cars caught in the traffic jams.
We heartily support the suggestions made by the various correspondents and, especially, those made by Robert Tabone, mayor of Victoria, and urge the relevant authorities to take action.
Needless to say, we would like to see a permanent solution to the problem of traffic management, parking and the passing of heavy vehicles through the streets of the Gozitan capital city.
This will not only improve the image of Victoria but will also improve the quality of life for residents, visitors and tourists alike.
