Revive St Paul's Bay
With the closure of so many hotels in the Buġibba area, business had suffered dramatically. Unless the authorities admit this, the situation will never get any better.
In my opinion an urgent plan to revive St Paul's Bay is imperative, otherwise more businesses will close down and more jobs will be lost.
One of the solutions is to use the bay in a better way for the benefit of all.
The congestion in the Grand Harbour with so many cruise liners and battle ships moored next to each other can be solved if the battle ships were to be shifted to St Paul's Bay.
They can easily be moored in the middle of the bay and create an activity for boat handler, bars and shops in the area. From my personal 25 years experience in Buġibba, the busiest day that I have witnessed was when the HMS Ark Royal entered St Paul's Bay in the 1980s.
That was the last time I have seen Buġibba the way it should be with everybody sold out on the first day.

The times when battle ships were moored next to each other in our harbours are long past, Mr Vella. So are the times when their crews swarmed to have their "fun" in the bars and other spots around the port area. Let's not start that all over again, please - neither in Bugibba nor anywhere else for that matter. You may remember that the Ark Royal had anchored at St Paul's Bay in June 1987 for considerations totally different from those commercial! Many of us have not forgotten that as yet.
