The number of Maltese passengers leaving by air and sea between January and April this year amounted to 78,380, an increase of 19.7 per cent over the same period last year, the National Statistics Office said yesterday.

Of these, 85.9 per cent travelled to EU destinations with the most visited countries being Italy and the UK.

During April, Maltese residents leaving by air and sea are estimated at 19,047, implying an increase of 1.3 per cent over the same month last year. Of these, 88.3 per cent travelled by air and 16,279 went to EU destinations.
