Obituary

BALZAN. On June 10, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALBERT of Msida, aged 78, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss the members of the MUSEUM Society, his sisters, Sr Eliana of the Franciscan Community, Josephine Abela, widow of Tony, and Lina Mifsud, residing in Australia, his sisters-in-law Lora Balzan, widow of Elis and Anna Balzan, widow of Karmenu, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Joseph parish church, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.
Lord, grant him eternal rest.

BRENNAN. On June 10, at Casa Antonia, Balzan, HELEN (Nellie), aged 87, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters-in-law Carmen and Carmelina Brennan, nephews and nieces and their respective husbands and wives, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Casa Antonia today at 2.30 p.m. for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m. followed by interment in the family vault at Ta' l-Erwieħ cemetery, Tarxien.

GALEA TESTAFERRATA. On June 9, MARIO of Mdina, passed away peacefully at home, in his 79th year, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Camilla and her husband Jimmy Scerri, James and his wife Ann, Maria, widow of Julian Zammit, Simon and his wife Filippa, his grandchildren Andrew, Rose, Nicholas, Julia, Emilia and Paul, his in-laws Giuseppi and his wife Anna, and Antoine Xuereb, numerous relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves his residence today at 1.45 p.m. for the Metropolitan Cathedral, Mdina, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request by donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated.

GATT HABER. On June 10, at Mater Dei Hospital, ELSIE of Sliema, aged 81, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her devoted husband Godfrey, her son Konrad and his wife Catherine, her daughter Cynthia and her husband Paul Busuttil, her grandchildren Daniela and her husband Cristiano, Robert and his fiancée Lara, Carolanne, Steven and Andrew, her sisters Dorothy and Estelle, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.

MIFSUD. On June 10, CHESSIE, née Galea, passed away peacefully at her residence in Valletta, aged 76, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, after a long illness borne with determination, indomitable fighting spirit and exemplary Christian courage. She leaves to mourn her great loss her husband Nuntio (Nonnie), her son Albert and his wife Susan, her daughter Victoria (Vicky) and her husband Cornelius, her grandchildren Christian, Cecilia and Gabriella, her sister Doris Caruana, her brothers Paul and his wife Grace, Ronald and his wife Elizabeth and George and his wife Maria of Edinburgh, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

PEARSON. On June 4, at Oxford Hospital, CARMELA of Abingdon, England, aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Josephine and Jean, her grandchildren and her sister Pauline Lucchese, in-laws, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends.
The funeral will take place in Abingdon.

TABONE. On June 9, MARIE LOUISE of Sliema, aged 89, passed away peacefully at Casa Antonia, Balzan, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Mariella and her husband Frank Xerri de Caro, Philip and his wife Marie, her grandchildren John and his wife Melanie, Simone and her fiancé Andrew, Anthony and his wife Pat, Ann and her husband Antoine, her great-grandchildren Sean, Beata and Daniel, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Casa Antonia today at 9 a.m. for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request by donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, would be appreciated. Special thanks go to the management and staff at Casa Antonia for their loving care and dedication.

PILLOW - JOYCE. Treasured memories of a dear wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on the first anniversary of her passing away to a better life. Fondly remembered by her husband Wilfred, her sons Josè and Adrian and their respective wives and families. A Mass for the repose of her soul will be said today at 7 p.m. at St Julians parish church. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SAMMUT. Cherished memories of dearly loved TONY, especially today the second anniversary of his birth to eternal life. His beloved wife Marguerite, his daughters Angela, Graziella and her husband Colin, and his grand-daughter Maria Nicola. A Mass for the repose of his soul will be said on June 14 at 6.30 p.m. at St Gregory the Great parish church, Sliema. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Piano studies abroad

A course in piano studies will be held at the University Suor Orsola Benincasa, in Naples, Italy.

The course is open to graduate and non-graduate pianists of all ages and is scheduled between October and May.

Applications should reach the Rector of the University in Naples, by not later than July 20.

Another course will also be held at the Art Academy and Residency Programme in Parnu, Estonia.
