Labour MP Anġlu Farrugia has presented the Police Commissioner with a second report detailing cases of alleged irregularities in voting during the general election.
Shortly after the March 8 general election Dr Farrugia claimed that irregularities had been committed during the voting and presented the police with a first three-page report on the subject.
Addressing the media outside the law courts yesterday, Dr Farrugia, a contender for the post of MLP deputy leader for parliamentary affairs, said he had now presented the police with a second report claiming that people were made to sell their voting documents. He said he would also be preparing a third report.
The second report includes declarations by people who, allegedly, were under threat to vote PN, including one who was warned she would otherwise lose her job. The Police Commissioner has been presented with more than 50 pictures taken with mobile phones by people made to vote PN, Dr Farrugia said.
He also claimed that arrangements had been made, through the social housing points system, for 200 people to be given a residence days before the election.
He will be submitting his reports to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) so that it could demand an explanation from the government on these irregularities.
Turning to the subject of the law courts, Dr Farrugia said that in the last few days, employees who had been in their respective positions for the last 12 years, therefore acquiring experience in specific fields, had been suddenly moved and had to learn new procedures. This, he said, reflected the wastage of resources and public finances within the courts.
