Berthing waiting lists

There are currently 437 applications on the Malta Maritime Authority waiting list for yachting berths at Msida and Ta' Xbiex and 111 applications for Mġarr.

Infrastructure and Transport Minister Austin Gatt said in reply to a parliamentary question by Robert Arrigo (PN) that there were no statistics of berthing applications for private yacht marinas. He confirmed that it was intended to construct more yacht marinas in the future.

In answer to two supplementary questions by Ċensu Galea (PN), Dr Gatt said that the intended sites for new yacht marinas were in Grand Harbour and Marsamxett Harbour, but it was not excluded that there could be others at St Paul's Bay and other places. The overall target is for 1,000 new berths.
