Munxar parish recently marked its 50th anniversary. The festivities coincided with the feast of St Paul, the village's patron saint and the Church-wide festivities marking the 200 years since the birth of St Paul.

The procession with the statue of St Paul included the relic of the arm of St Paul which is venerated at St Paul's collegiate church in Valletta.

The relic was also taken to the homes of house-bound parishioners, to Gozo General Hospital and St Anne Residence. The last time the relic was in Munxar was 25 years ago when the parish celebrated its 25th anniversary .

This year Munxar also marks the 75th anniversary of its titular statue by Gozitan sculptor Agostino Camilleri. It was blessed by Bishop Michael Gonzi on January 31, 1933.

But it was not before February 10, 1951 that it was carried round the village streets.
