Green MEP Gisela Kallenbach has said Gozo has all the potential to create innovative, sustainable jobs.
Speaking in Gozo, she praised the government for taking up Alternattiva Demokratika's 2007 suggestion to include the concept of Gozo as an "eco island" in its 2015 vision for the Maltese islands.
Ms Kallenbach was on a visit recently at the invitation of AD to have a look at projects which characterise Gozo as a niche tourist destination. The concept of Gozo as an ecological island was discussed during a meeting with the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry for Gozo, Joe Micallef.
Ms Kallenback was also taken on a tour of the EU-funded Grading Centre, Casa Fungi Ltd and Gozo Cottage Products Ltd, all based at the Cooperative of Gozitan Farmers - Gozitano Ltd.
