Meat production in the first quarter increased by 14.5 per cent over the same three months last year, reaching 3,627 tonnes, the National Statistics Office said.

The value of slaughtered animals registered an increase of €0.47 million, or 8.9 per cent, to stand at €5.73 million.

Beef production was down 4.6 per cent, pig meat production rose by 17.3 per cent and broiler-meat production was up by 16.3 per cent.
