Carlo Ancelotti said that he will definitely stay on as Milan coach next season, refuting reports he is about to take over at Chelsea.

"I'm staying at Milan 150 per cent," Ancelotti, who led Milan to the 2007 and 2003 Champions League titles, told reporters.

"There has been no contact with Chelsea. The rumours are the usual fantasy football stories that are repeated every year."

British media reported on Tuesday that the Italian had struck a deal with the London club, who are looking for a manager after sacking Avram Grant last month.

Everton want Ramsey

Everton have joined in the bidding war for Cardiff City teenage sensation Aaron Ramsey. It seems, Everton have matched bids in the region of £5m already tabled by Manchester United and Arsenal for the 17-year-old midfielder.

Liverpool are also keen on the Wales U-21 international, but have yet to meet City's valuation of the player. Cardiff insist no deal has yet been struck and the midfielder will ultimately decide his destination.

United still appear to be in pole position and it's believed theirs is the only deal which includes Ramsey being loaned back to the Bluebirds for next season.

Ramsey has played just 22 games for Championship side Cardiff but has been touted as Ryan Giggs's heir apparent.

Italian Super Cup in the US

The 2008 Italian Super Cup will be played in the United States, Antonio Matarrese, the Football League president, said. The season opener pits champions Inter against Coppa Italia winners Roma once again.

"The Super Cup could be played in Philadelphia because we have received an offer from there as well as New York," Matarrese said.

It's not the first time the Super Cup has been contested on American soil - the 1993 fixture was played in Washington, while Juventus and Milan faced off at Giants Stadium in New York five years ago.

Roma were victorious last year at the San Siro thanks to a Daniele De Rossi penalty.

Gascoigne detained again

Former England midfielder Paul Gascoigne was detained under the Mental Health Act for the third time this year.

Gary Mabbutt, who played with Gascoigne for Tottenham Hotspur, told BBC Radio Five that the 41-year-old had been sectioned for up to six months, a day after being released.

"Since Paul was sectioned in February, we have all been working together to get Paul the best possible treatment to overcome his problems," Mabbutt said.

Gascoigne was detained on Sunday after appearing agitated in public but was released on Monday.

However, newspaper photographs on Tuesday showed him sitting in a barber's chair in London receiving treatment from medics.

Sagna with Arsenal until 2014

Right-back Bacary Sagna has accepted a contract extension with Arsenal, the London club said yesterday. The France international had an outstanding debut in England last season following his move from Auxerre and was also named in the PFA Team of the Year.

Now, despite only being less than 12 months into his original deal, Arsenal have tied him down until 2014.

"I love Arsenal, they are a great club," Sagna said.

"The manager is also very good and next season we will be fighting for all the trophies."

Burnley venture in US

Burnley officials will be in the US later this week to finalise plans for a partnership agreement with a professional club. The Championship team want to tap into a growing pool of talent in the country as football increases in popularity.

"Essentially it's a collaboration," Burnley chairman Barry Kilby told reporters. "We would be involved in the running of the club and would hopefully have first choice on players coming through, which would be an advantage."

MLS has increased its appeal since its inception in 1996. The league currently consists of 14 teams, with expansion franchises due to begin in Seattle and Philadelphia in the next couple of years.

Burnley will play two pre-season friendlies against United Soccer League sides in July.

Champions League hope for Milan

Milan could be offered a place in the Champions League next season as Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia face expulsion. Bulgaria's FA has asked that champions CSKA are banned from the Champions League due to financial problems.

That would open up a space in the second preliminary round which Italian media reports said would be given to the side with the highest UEFA ranking that aren't involved in the competition - Milan.

The Bulgarians are contending that Levski Sofia, second in the league behind CSKA, will play in the Champions League.

In 2006, Milan missed out on the Champions League due to the soccer scandal but were re-instated on appeal. Had the appeal failed, Lens were ready to enter due to the UEFA coefficient.
