UEFA and the European Union (EU)’s consumer chief have teamed up in a bid to ensure that the millions of supporters attending the European Championship recognise their rights as consumers.

In fact, an advertising campaign has been set up to help supporters deal with problems concerning match tickets, air travel, hotels, health insurance and unsafe or damaged goods, among others.

“We want fans to have the best possible experience,” said Consumer Affairs Commissioner Meglena Kuneva.

She further explained that this campaign is about giving people practical advice and sets out the things one should know beforehand.

Meanwhile, UEFA president Michel Platini urged fans travelling to Austria and Switzerland to log onto www.supportersrights.eu, set up as part of the campaign.
