Trezeguet left out of France’s squad

Former World Cup and European Championship winner David Trezeguet has been left out of the French squad.

Coach Raymond Domenech, who has had a difficult relationship with Trezeguet, did not pick the Juventus striker.

A member of France’s World Cup and European Championship winning squads, Trezeguet has scored 34 goals in 71 internationals, third on France’s all-time list behind Thierry Henry and Michel Platini.

But Domenech has called on Trezeguet just five times since the last World Cup final, which France lost on penalties.

Instead of Trezeguet, Domenech has picked St Etienne forward Bafetimbi Gomis.

Gomis is a real surprise on the list and one of two uncapped team members, along with reserve goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.
