Horse riding

Toys for you

Long before we thought of bicycles, cars or any form of man-made transport, people travelled around on horseback. Nowadays we hardly ever see horses or ponies pulling delivery carts or carriages.

But horse riding is becoming very popular in Malta and Gozo and several summer schools are offering it as one of their activities.

It is totally environmentally friendly and a real affection grows between horse and rider as they wander together through lanes or along a sandy shore.

If you decide to try riding, make sure you go to a school or stable where the horses and ponies are properly trained for hacking, and are not aggressive to people or each other. They should not be afraid of traffic, sudden noise and other animals. The instructor accompanying the ride should be experienced and responsible.

Wear well-fitting, comfortable shoes and a hard hat or helmet. In fact do not trust a riding school that does not insist on these points.

Look for Toys for you competition in our competitions section, and win a beautiful Rainbow Pony model kit!
