The fifth round of the 2008 Hillclimb and Sprint Championship will be held on Saturday at Ta' Qali.

The venue will be the fifth different location this year following Miżieb, Mistra, Ġnejna and Xagħra. In Gozo, however, the event had to be aborted with just two cars left to complete their runs when the electronic timing equipment failed.

Two events were staged at Ta' Qali last year, though the circuits used on each occasion were different.

The winner, in both instances, was Joshua Anastasi, driving his JBR3 Kawasaki 1400. The orange single-seater will be the car to beat this weekend.

And he will have plenty of competition too, with Zach Zammit (Ralt Honda 2000) and Lino Brincat (Dallara Alfa Romeo) both eager to register their second season win.

Current champion Hubert Camilleri (Chevron Cosworth 2000) will be looking to open his winning score this season at Ta' Qali.

The Group 5 and special saloons classes will be no less exciting with a gaggle of highly-tuned four-wheel drive Subaru Impreza WRXs and Mitsubishi EVOs, battling with the lighter Group 5s for the honours.

The event on Saturday starts at 9 a.m. with the first of two practice runs. These will be followed by two timed runs of which the fastest is taken into account.
