In Buġibba bay stretching from Qawra to Sirens, there is an inlet with offers good mooring and berthing facilities to the various ferry boats which take tourists on cruises. Practically all the owners of the boats set their moorings in this area, except for one.

This exceptional boat, in splendid isolation from the rest, is moored in one of the popular bathing spots in Buġibba.

Although its name is Romantika, it does not add one iota to the charm which this part of the bay might have. On the contrary it is looked at with disdain by the swimmers who frequent this part of the bay.

These swimmers have to wait till 11 a.m., the time when this boat generally sets sail, to be able to swim to their hearts' content. They have of course, to hold their breath for a while in order not to inhale the fumes emitting from the exhaust mechanism of the boat's engine .

At a time when we have grown accustomed to strict rules about the parking of our cars, we are baffled why this boat, unlike all others, is allowed to anchor in this part of this bay. Can the authorities provide any answer?
