Fifty-four illegal migrants in two equal groups landed yesterday, the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) said.
The boat carrying the first group, made up of 24 men and three women, was sighted near the islet of Filfla at about 10.30 a.m. and were escorted to Wied iż-Żurrieq by an AFM patrol boat.
The second group, made up 20 men and seven women, all Somalis, was intercepted at about 5 p.m., 11 miles off Delimara.
They were brought ashore by the AFM and like the first group were passed on to the immigration police.
