Michael A. Saliba, secretary of the University of Malta Academic Staff Association (UMASA) and Franklin Borda, general secretary of the Malta Union of Teachers (MUT), have issued a joint update on the collective agreement regarding university academic staff.

The statement said that "UMASA and MUT set a deadline till June 6 for the University to reply to our claim for a new remuneration package as part of our new collective agreement.

"In the meantime, we advise all members of the academic staff to submit their assessment results for the second semester on the stipulated Faculty deadlines, but not before.

"The unions are monitoring the situation and will issue further instructions if and when it is considered necessary."
