A pianoforte concert, 'Welcoming Summer', in aid of the Missions in Peru will be held on Saturday, June 21 at 8.30 p.m. in front of St Thomas Tower, Marsascala.

The concert is being organised by the Marsascala Local Council and will feature mezzo-soprano Alexandra Scicluna and pianist Elizabeth Leonardi.

For almost seven years Fr Giovanni Cefai Camilleri has been working as a missionary in La Tomilla, Araquipa, Peru where he assists people in their spiritual journey. However, a large part of his parish lives in poverty lacking basic necessities.

Fr Cefai Camilleri has built a kitchen, a small clinic and three big nurseries for families in poverty.

Fr Cefai Camilleri is looking after 90 children in the nurseries.

In the clinic, children receive medical care and medicines for free. A doctor, a dentist, and a pharmacist are also available from Monday to Saturday.

Through home visits, Fr Cefai Camilleri learns the needs of his community and what work can be done to improve the situation.

Anyone wishing work with the missions may contact Fr Cefai Camilleri at giocefai@hotmail. com.

Entrance to the concert is free. Donations will be greatly appreciated. For more information call the Marsascala Local Council on 2163 7171.
