Forget the past, Mtarfa mayor says

The new Mtarfa mayor yesterday called on the council to put partisan politics and personal interests aside and to work together in the residents' interests.

Anthony Mifsud, who was yesterday sworn in with deputy mayor Simon Paul Fenech, called for unity and encouraged the council to forget the way it was managed in the past.

The last Labour-controlled council was dissolved last month for failing to follow administrative rules and the Nationalist Party obtained a majority of votes in last week's election.
