So, the long-awaited Eurovision semi-final is over and Malta has, once again, not been selected for the final.

I liked Morena's song and her performance.

Having said that, I am not surprised that it was not selected since the Eurovision song contest is not really about talent, but dominated by the politics of 'neighbourhood'.

We have been taking part in this so-called competition for several decades now, and yet we have never won, not because of the lack of good songs and performances, but because of the contest's politics.

I think it is high time to stop this money-wasting experiment once and for all.

If they want to invest in local talent, which they should by all means, perhaps they should consider funding local artists to help them reach wider horizons.

That would be money well spent, and at the same time really achieving exposure and assistance for local talent, which we certainly do not lack.
