SmartCity Malta, in conjunction with the education directorates has launched a series of information sessions for academics and education personnel.

The aim of the information sessions is to brief state and non-state schools, guidance teachers and ICT teachers about the future job opportunities, particularly in terms of ICT and media, that SmartCity Malta will create.

“This is a great opportunity for academics and education personnel to learn more about SmartCity Malta and the formidable challenge that the Maltese education system has to tackle in developing a sufficiently large talent pool of ICT and media professionals, and technicians, to fill the new positions that will be created by SmartCity Malta,” said Grace Grima, Director-General at the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education.

“The Directorate for Educational Services(DES) welcomes SmartCity Malta’s initiative and commits itself to collaborating in this new and exciting challenge," Micheline Sciberras, Director General, Educational Services, said.

"The DES is constantly aware of developing trends in the labour market and is keen to learn more about this new venture. SmartCity Malta will have its effect on the nation including the teaching profession and therefore we look forward to building our knowledge of the sector,” Ms Sciberras said.

Fareed Abdulrahman, CEO of SmartCity and acting CEO of SmartCity Malta and SmartCity Kochi said, “SmartCity Malta will create many opportunities for Maltese citizens to either start-up a business at SmartCity Malta – through its one-stop-shop experience aiming to ease the process of setting up and a hassle-free operation – or seek employment in the ICT and media fields which will contribute to the growth of the Maltese knowledge-based economy.”

SmartCity Malta will be part of a ‘global network’ of SmartCity entities that will allow businesses to easily expand globally through the SmartCity network. The SmartCity global network will also allow easy access to different markets, talent pools, possibilities of business partnerships and sharing of market intelligence.
