I refer to the comments made by Charles Camilleri in his letter about the valley of Wied Blandun at Paola/Fgura (May 26).
The photo accompanying the letter, showing the formation of a new road and a mass of building material, is of a building site, which site I disposed of years ago to third parties.
Mr Camilleri refers to the valley as "our Wied Blandun" when I am still its owner. In order to prevent any more rape to this picturesque valley I shall be requesting Mepa to allow me to enclose the area with wire netting as I intend to replace existing trees with olive ones.
I take this opportunity to inform the public that a prime part of Wied Blandun was taken by the government in 1973 for the formation of 28th April Avenue, its adjacent parallel roads and the large playing field. After 35 years this government is still refusing to pay me, as the legitimate owner of the land, for this forced expropriation carried out by a Labour government.
I have just written to the Prime Minister, seeking his intervention, for adequate payment.
