Morena: winner or loser? (1)
Morena failed to qualify for the Finals of the Eurovision Song Contest. However, in my opinion, she was a winner in many ways. First of all, she was a winner in the way she kept her feet firmly on the ground, never allowing success to go to her head.
Morena failed to qualify for the Finals of the Eurovision Song Contest. However, in my opinion, she was a winner in many ways.
First of all, she was a winner in the way she kept her feet firmly on the ground, never allowing success to go to her head. From the outset, she adopted a realistic attitude, as she was fully aware of the odds against her. Nonetheless, she was determined to give it her best shot for Malta, to enjoy her moment of glory and to leave the rest in the hands of God, whom she always kept as an important reference point.
She was also a winner in the way she succeeded in captivating local and foreign audiences, by her stage confidence and by her vibrant and effervescent style of singing. Young and old could not resist the temptation of swinging and singing with her and sharing her joie de vivre.
Finally, Morena was an overwhelming winner in her most difficult moment, when it dawned on her and on the Maltese contingent that her Vodka entry had not qualified for the finals.
Her upbeat mood did not desert her. She refrained from seeking scapegoats and excuses. She continued to smile and wave to her innumerable admirers and her only comment was that she had no regrets as she felt that she had done her best for Malta. In a competition, she said, that there had to be winners and there had to be losers.
Well done Morena! You have taught us many a lesson. Your impeccable behaviour has made you a winner in the eyes of your numerous fans. Congratulations! We are proud of you!
