Tal-Magħtab Centre annual show

The Tal-Magħtab Equestrian Centre will be organising their annual event this weekend.

The competitions are open to the general public and all horse enthusiasts.

This year's event, sponsored by McDonald's, will see participants challenging for the titles of 'Best Turned Out' and 'Best in Hand', where horse and rider are strictly judged on appearance, condition and handling abilities.

Competitions on Sunday will feature the more exhilarating activities, including dressage and show-jumping.

As one of the most popular equestrian sports, the dressage and show-jumping events are guaranteed a high turn-out of competitors.

Dressage judges will assess each team's riding abilities, according to their level of expertise and horse's training standard.

In the show-jumping event, Malta's top riders will be trying their luck at clearing formidable obstacles in a bid to clinch the cup and title.

All teams have been training hard over the last weeks to ensure their mounts are in top condition for the two-day event.

The Malta Equestrian Federation and individual riding clubs have hosted a series of specialised clinics, delivered by top-level international instructors from Holland, the United Kingdom and Italy, so as to ensure the best standard of riding, judging and preparation.
