Obituary

BORG-CHERUBINO. On May 21, ALDA, née Cherubino, widow of Paul, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, passed away peacefully at Casa Arkati, Mosta, having recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter Maria Pia, wife of Ronald Mifsud, and Anna, widow of Michael Orr, her grandchildren Ivan and his wife Maria, Mark and his wife Samantha, Matthew and his wife Amanda, Kristina and her husband Simon Horne, Patricia and her husband Adam Jones, her great-grandchildren Michela, Annabel, Beatrice, Jack and Daisy, her nephew Marcello Basile Cherubino and his wife Joan, and her other nephews, nieces and cousins in Italy.
The funeral service will take place on June 1 at 9 a.m. at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel, followed by interment.
Rest in peace.

CHETCUTI. On May 26, at Mater Dei Hospital, MANUEL of Naxxar, aged 88, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Victoria, his children Charles, John and his wife Sonia and Maria and her husband Emanuel Gauci, her grandchildren Silvio, Victor, Analise, Matthew, Christina, Gianella and Gianluca, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3.45 p.m.for Our Lady of Victories parish church, Naxxar, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4.30 p.m., followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Eucharist will be celebrated tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Convent, St Julians, to commemorate the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Mass will be offered for the repose of Neville Bonett who passed away on April 19, 2008. Members of the various parish movements in Balluta, relatives and friends are invited to attend.

International Singing Festival

The fifth edition of the Golden Cross International Singing Festival will be held at Citadel Centre for Culture and the Arts in Victoria from July 19 to 24.

The main aim of this non-profit event is to promote local talent internationally with the motto of Peace And Friendship Through Music And Arts.

The organising board said it has once again managed to secure the participation of renowned international young singers for this year's edition while an international jury will decide on finalists and the winners.

The board is preparing a number of additional activities such as a cultural evening, dancing, a fashion show and dance parties.

Club Maserati

Abstracts at Vittoriosa

Raymond Borg is exhibiting a selection of abstracts at Del Borgo Wine Bar in Vittoriosa. The paintings feature, among others, a unique gesso technique the artist has been perfecting for the past two years.
