There were 197 persons who were registered or naturalised as Maltese citizens in the first four months of 2008, Foreign Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told Noel Farrugia (MLP) in reply to a series of parliamentary questions.

Nobody needed to renounce to any other citizenship.

Over the same period the Citizenship Department confirmed 225 cases of persons who qualified for dual citizenship, besides 40 other applications that were still being processed.
