Anton Mifsud (PN) is the new Mtarfa mayor while Simon Fenech (PN) is deputy mayor.

The two councillors obtained an equal number of votes in the recent election, which saw the Nationalist Party win a majority of votes for the first time ever in Mtarfa.

Legally, the candidate with the highest number of votes belonging to the winning party should be elected mayor.

After consultations held between the three PN councillors, Mr Mifsud, Mr Fenech and Anatole Scerri Diacono, it was decided that Mr Mifsud should be appointed mayor and Mr Fenech his deputy.
