A-36-year-old man was yesterday remanded in custody after he was charged with conspiring to import ecstasy and being in possession of cocaine last Sunday.

Jeffrey Zammit of Żabbar pleaded not guilty to the charges as well as to trafficking in ecstasy and possession of the drug in circumstances that denote it was not for his personal use and possession of cocaine on and before last November. Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera heard Mr Zammit also plead not guilty to possession of cannabis resin.

After taking into consideration the seriousness of the case Magistrate Scerri Herrera remanded him in custody.

Police Inspector Victor Aquilina prosecuted.

Lawyer David Camilleri appeared for the defendant.
