Libyan denies fraud charge

A Libyan national was this morning granted bail against a personal guarantee of €7,000 (Lm3,004.29) and a deposit on €3,000 (Lm1,287.55) after he pleaded not guilty to defrauding two people out of more than €2,329 (Lm1,000).

Azawam Azawam Atwair, 40 currently residing in Rabat, was charged with defrauding Donald and Christopher Attard, misappropriation and threatening them.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli after taking into consideration the amount allegedly misappropriated granted Mr Azawam bail.

Police Inspector Ivan Cilia prosecuted.

Lawyer Kris Bussietta appeared for Mr Azawam.
