The accused, Brooks Lia, at the San Ġwann car park, yesterday.

A jury was yesterday shown a tree in a San Ġwann car park where Brooks Lia, 35, allegedly dumped a woman who had taken a heroin overdose and, the prosecution claims, left her there to die.

Farmer Alfred Camilleri took jurors to the spot where he says he found the woman propped up against a tree and near a rubble wall in the car park of Ir-Razzett l-Abjad in 2001.

Her life was saved with seconds to spare after he called an ambulance, the court heard on Monday.

Mr Lia is denying the charge of attempted homicide.

The start of his trial on Monday was characterised by graphic testimony given by the farmer and a doctor who treated the woman on the spot.
