Negative attitudes, untoward criticism and futile comments to the adversarial media during a campaign trail would vivify a weakness in the personality of a contender. A Labour leadership hopeful who resorts to that mode would certainly not gain any positive mileage for the party and definitely harm his or her own campaign. That would be a pity as they all possess the good qualities that the party needs.

As a lifelong Labour supporter and well known to the contenders, I appeal to them to consult with their "leading light" and possibly revisit their campaign trail so far. The bickering, subtle sniping and below-the-belt punches are not doing them any good.

Although I am not a party delegate I do enjoy respect from a great number of delegates and I shall be exercising the power that this position gives me. I have no difficulty to declare that my choice will be for that contestant with a positive and convincing attitude to enhance the future prospects of our party. That will be the person whom I want to lead our party.

At my time of life I have the luxury gained by the power of independent means and therefore need no favours from any of the contenders. That purely makes me a party man. My particular support is solely motivated by the well-being of our party, no more, no less.

I had a reasonable successful career, the milestones were achieved only through following the good examples of other fellow executives not by envying them. I have no problem to make it known that I am full of admiration for the good example set by one candidate and he ought to be congratulated even by those who support the others. One may take the attitude of the ostrich but in the final analysis only the positive will lead the opinion polls and - eventually - win the contest.

I sincerely wish that all the contenders would switch to a non-negative frame of mind, follow the current favourite's style and give him a hard time at campaigning and even surpass him in the polls as that will make our Labour an even greater organisation.

I sincerely wish all the luck in the world to all contenders as I respect and love all five of them. May the best person win because that's what the people of our beloved country deserve.
