The San Antonio Spurs trounced the Los Angeles Lakers 103-84 in Game Three of the Western Conference finals on Sunday, the NBA champions reducing their series deficit to 2-1 with a solid home display. Guard Manu Ginobili raised his game to pace the Spurs with 30 points, hitting nine-of-15 shots, including five-of-seven from three-point range.

Chicago Bulls basketball player Joakim Noah, the son of French former tennis star Yannick Noah, was charged on Sunday with possession of marijuana. Police in Gainesville, Florida, said the player was spotted by officers on a street in the downtown bar district early on Sunday with a cup containing alcohol. When they searched Noah, officers found a marijuana cigarette in a cigarette pack in his pocket.
Volleyball
Germany won a tense five-set final against Spain last weekend to clinch an Olympic men's volleyball place. Germany won the first two sets in the final match of the round-robin tournament, which also featured Cuba and Taiwan, before Spain hit back to force a decider. The hosts won to complete a 25-23 25-23 23-25 22-25 15-10 victory and seal Germany's first men's volleyball appearance at the Olympics since the 1972 Munich Games.
