Student chefs make front page in Hungary

Hungary got a taste of traditional Maltese desserts when a group of Institute of Tourism Studies students put their culinary skills to the test during an EU-funded food festival.

Malta's young chefs ended up on the front page of the Hungarian paper Kelet wearing traditional Maltese consumes while serving delicacies such as torta tal-marmurat (almond and chocolate pie), ġelat tat-tut (blackberry ice cream) and imqaret (date fritters).

Three lecturers accompanied four students to Hungary for the festival, held as part of a project run under the EU's Comenius programme.

Comenius: Healthy Food for a Future Europe, combines the aspects of healthy eating and discovery of the traditions and culture of the participating countries - Malta, Hungary, France, Norway and Holland - through food and the use of the English language.
