Six men from Zabbar were fined and given suspended jail sentences today after admitting their involvement in incidents during the Zabbar feast in September 2004.

Magistrate Silvio Meli sentenced Miguel Azzopardi, Jurgen Cassar and John Cassar to 18 months in prison suspended for three years and fined them €465.87 (Lm200) each, while Joseph Pisani and Ivan Borg were sentenced to 18 months in prison suspended for three years and fined €582.34 (Lm250). Joseph Sciberaas was sentenced to two years in prison suspended for four years and fined €698.81 (Lm300).

Inspector Anthony Cassar prosecuted.

The police had arraigned 30 persons in connection with the incidents. Twelve are still undergoing court proceedings.
