Men, woman arrested over ecstasy pills

Two men and a woman have been arrested allegedly in possession of a substantial number of ecstasy pills after having been under police surveillance for several weeks, the police said.

A 31-year-old man and 38-year-old woman, both from Qrendi, and a 36-year-old man from Żabbar were stopped as they were driving through Naxxar on Sunday morning.

The Qrendi man was found to be in possession of about 1,000 pills. The police searched the residences and other properties of the three people, finding more ecstasy as well as drug-related objects in a Qrendi home and a Marsa garage.

Members of the police Drug Squad are expected to arraign several people connected with this case over the coming days.
