I am under the impression that the section which cleans beaches falls under the remit of the Malta Tourism Authority. If that impression is correct, it is a fact that beaches in Xemxija Bay and the vicinity have been completely ignored by the MTA for the last few months.

Rubbish and algae are still present on these beaches after being washed up ashore months ago. The algae and miscellaneous rubbish are also starting to create a stench which is spoiling the locals' and tourists' enjoyment of the promenade.

Can the MTA please take concrete action, or otherwise, in view of the interest to tourists in these areas, start to pressure the appropriate body to take the necessary action?
