Once again, like many other countries which competed, Malta did not make it to the Eurovision final and the Maltese are crying and making a big fuss about it. Poor losers! But then, we never learn either. We accuse other nations of voting for their neighbours and complain about the politics involved, and we do the same when we choose our song to send to Europe.Yes, Morena did a good job but the song Sunrise by Ray Agius was not only original but superior in all aspects while Claudia Faniello delivered it to perfection.

If we blame the neighbours voting for neighbours, we need to dig deep and examine how Chiara did so well that her quality, originality and overall performance broke that chain.

As my wife tells me, if I were to sing in the contest and someone else is better than me, she'd vote for that other person. This is not a family or friends contest but a national one. She's right.

Perhaps, if they stop allowing the public to vote it might help. Let the judges decide after it is ascertained that they are not biased either. We should choose what we feel is best and not vote for whom we know.

In the meantime, self-examination will bear more fruits than crying about it.
